I'm New
If you have more questions, you can connect with us on Facebook or send us a message using the form in the Get in touch page.
-
Can I still come if I’m not a Christian - or unusual or even not a very nice person?Yes. Our church family is made up of imperfect people who know they need Jesus' saving grace in their lives. There are all kinds of people at Chatswood Church of Christ each with their own stories, who are all part of our family.
-
Is parking available? We are located in the lower half of Chatswood, close to a variety of shopping centre parking options. We are located adjacent to Chatswood Chase. You can also find street parking available - especially on Sundays.
-
Can I bring my children?Yes! Children are a big part of the church and they are very welcome. We have KidZone both from 9:30am to 10:45am (English gathering) and from 11:30am to 12:30pm (Mandarin gathering).
-
What if I don’t know the songs? We have 2 screens with slides that show the hymn or song lyrics. You can choose to sing or just listen.
-
Will I be expected to do anything or give any money? You won't be bored, embarrassed or asked for money (we do take an offering - but it’s for people committed to our church family, not guests). You will be warmly welcomed, encouraged in your walk with God - and we hope you would want to come again! If you have any other questions about Chatswood Church of Christ or what to expect when you visit, contact us. Hope to see you soon!
-
What happens after the gathering? You are free to stay back after the gathering to join us for a ‘Meet and Greet’ over morning tea, in the downstairs hall. We also encourage you to join us for fellowship over lunch at a local food court.
-
What time are the gatherings? We meet on Sundays from 9:30am - 11am for English and 11:30am - 1pm for Mandarin gatherings. We also have several small gatherings during the week. You can find out more in the What we do page.
-
What if I want to stay anonymous? While there will be opportunity on a Sunday for you to connect more with us by letting us know your contact information, this is purely optional. We have people from all sorts of backgrounds and church experiences. We understand that some people just want to visit without “jumping all in”. That’s totally ok to do!
-
Will I be the “odd one out”?We doubt it. We are all human and imperfect. We make a big effort to welcome, be gracious and be kind to everyone... because that is the kind of love that God has shown us.
-
How do I stay connected to the church? As you walk in, there will be a stand on your left with a QR Code that can be scanned. You will be asked to provide your basic contact information. You can also connect with us or ask a question in the Connect with us page.
-
How do I get here?We are only a 15 minute walk from Chatswood Station. There is also a bus that stops just near our entrance.
-
What is communion and should I take it?The Communion (or The Lord's Supper) is a rite instituted by Jesus Christ to be celebrated with the elements of bread and wine by believers in Christ until the end of the age. It commemorates and declares our thanks for the Lord's substitutionary death on the cross. It is open to all baptised disciples. If you are not baptised but trust and follow Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you may partake.
-
What should I wear? There is no dress code. Just wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.
-
What is a gathering like? Many guests comment that our gatherings are refreshingly simple and casual. Our gatherings consist of songs, prayers, communion and a sermon (or “talk”). The aim of the sermon is to understand the heart of our Father, be filled with and be empowered by the Holy Spirit to live life like Jesus, by God’s gospel design and grace.
